Bluesound is an alliance of audiophiles dedicated to delivering on the promise of wireless, digitally perfect high-fidelity audio.
If you’re not familiar with Bluesound, well, you should be.
If you know Sonos, then getting to know Bluesound won’t be too difficult. In some ways, Bluesound can be understood as a wireless speaker system that is a step or two up from Sonos. Even though there are some similarities (e.g., the speaker options are almost identical), there are some noticeable differences—some better, some worse.
Bluesound wireless speakers have a better audio range and are equipped to stream music at a higher resolution than Sonos (read below). The Bluesound speakers have a bit more control in the actual speakers’ button options and can be connected to a streaming device via Bluetooth (which Sonos cannot). In addition to this, one of the other awesome features of Bluesound is their Vault 2’s capability of ripping a CD and storing it for streaming. Talk about convenient!
On the flip side, Bluesound’s app is not as user-friendly in some ways (e.g., UI is cleaner), though in other ways it’s better (e.g., control over speaker settings can be done on the fly while listening to music). Bluesound speakers do not put out the same kind of low-end that Sonos’ do (e.g., the PLAY:5’s low-end is noticeably better than the Pulse 2). However, this isn’t to say that it’s bad. By no means—it’s a great sound.
Here’s some more to consider about Bluesound.
Made For More Than MP3
Bluesound is not a computer company masquerading as an audio company. They are made by audiophiles for audiophiles. While Bluesound is compatible with MP3s, their players are also compatible with just about every other digital format that’s available, including MQA for those who will settle for nothing less than studio-master-quality sound. They combine sleek and modern design sensibilities with a spare-no-expense attitude on the integration of advanced, innovative audio technologies.
Your Music. Your way.
Whether you stream Internet radio, download hi-res tracks, or have a CD library you have carefully cultivated, Bluesound can give you instant access to millions of songs from a multitude of sources. It’s like having all of the music ever recorded at your fingertips, through your smart device.
Master Quality Authenticated
Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) is a revolutionary end-to-end technology built into every Bluesound Player that captures and delivers master quality audio to any room in your home. All Bluesound Players include a powerful decoder and audio renderer for the MQA system. The MQA logo shown in the BluOS app indicates that the unit is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and lets you know that you are hearing exactly what the artist recorded and approved in the studio.
